The Internal Tooling Squad

The ZIWO Internal Tooling and Automation (ZITA) Squad is a core engineering team focused on building and maintaining the foundational systems that power ZIWO's operations. From backend event distribution and authentication services to audit trails, subscription management, and onboarding automation, ZITA is responsible for the infrastructure that ensures platform reliability, operational efficiency, and cross-regional scalability. The squad plays a strategic role in streamlining internal workflows, accelerating new customer implementation, and enabling ZIWO's multi-cloud, multi-region architecture. Their work directly enhances team productivity, system transparency, and the long term resilience of the ZIWO ecosystem.

About The Role

We're looking for a Lead Backend Developer to join our ZITA Squad in Dubai Internet City. As a technical leader, you'll work closely with developers, product owners, and cross-functional teams to architect secure, scalable backend solutions - including identity management, event distribution, subscriptions, internal dashboards, and more. You'll also play a key role in improving engineering productivity and platform reliability across the company.

• Lead the squad in backend system design, development, and implementation
• Guide and mentor engineers, enforce code quality, and promote best practices
• Build and maintain internal tools such as authentication services, audit logging, monitoring platforms, and onboarding automation
• Design and evolve scalable APIs, microservices, and data architecture
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, DevOps, and engineering teams
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure scalability across multiple regions and providers
• Optimize system performance, reliability, and security
• Drive innovation, process automation, and continuous improvement
• Participate in code reviews, solution planning, and squad leadership

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 6+ years of backend development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
• Proficiency in Node.js, Golang, Python, or similar languages
• Strong experience with REST APIs and microservices architecture
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and DevOps tools (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience building internal tools, backend infrastructure, or platform automation is a plus
• Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working in Agile environments and hybrid setups
