What you'll do:
- Support the implementation of a joint venture between our organization and a partner company in Mexico
- Play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition and integration of HR processes and policies in compliance with local labor laws and regulations
- Lead the implementation of the new company organization in Mexico from the Human Resources perspective
- Build the local HR team in Mexico in alignment with the Joint Venture strategies and requirements
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop an HR integration strategy for the joint venture in Mexico
- Coordinate with HR teams from both companies to align policies, procedures, and HR systems
- Ensure compliance with Mexican labor laws and regulations throughout the implementation process
- Support the creation of an organizational structure that promotes efficiency and effective communication
- Advise, coach, and counsel management regarding the appropriate resolution of employee relations, leave of absence, terminations, attendance, payroll, and benefits issues
- Consult with legal counsel and HR leadership as appropriate
- Proactively provide solutions and recommendations to HR Director and management
- Review existing HR policies and procedures from both organizations and identify areas that require alignment or modification to comply with local regulations
- Develop and implement new policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to the joint venture's specific needs
- Communicate changes to employees and provide necessary training to ensure understanding and compliance
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team in Mexico (external consultant) to develop an integrated recruitment strategy
- Assist in identifying key talent gaps and coordinate recruitment efforts to fill critical positions
- Assist managers with the recruiting, screening, interviewing, selection, and hiring of employees
- Ensure all steps of the Hiring SOP are being followed while maintaining recruiting files and documentation
- Advertising various positions and managing the external vendor in Mexico
- Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring smooth assimilation into the joint venture organization
- Implement and conduct HR-related training for the region
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and support
- Foster a positive work environment through effective employee relations practices, conflict resolution, and regular communication
- Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, such as recognition programs and team building activities
- Create, manage, and implement programs and employee events to improve employee relations, retention, and company morale
- Collaborate with managers to establish performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback mechanisms
- Support the implementation of a performance-based culture by providing coaching and guidance on performance improvement and development plans
- Work on the Compensation and Benefits requirements to ensure competitive and compliant compensation structures are in place
- Develop and implement benefits programs aligned with the joint venture's objectives, local requirements, and regional/global guidance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- A relevant master's degree is a plus
- Proven experience as an HR Manager or in a similar HR leadership role, preferably with exposure to joint venture implementations or international HR operations
- At least 8 to 10 years of progressive human resources experience including strong employee relations experience
- May include a combination of work experience and education
- Requires strong knowledge of HR practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and multicultural work environment
- Strong PC skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet, HRIS, and timekeeping systems
- Experience with Multi-State Employment laws desired
- In-depth knowledge of Mexican labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at various levels
- Ability to adapt to a multicultural work environment and work well in cross-functional teams
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is required
- Availability to travel about 50% of the time
