Randstad are currently looking for Housing Officer to work at a local authority Newport City Council.
The role involves assisting the Home Options Manager in the efficient administration of the common housing
register and the common housing allocations policy is adhered to and that nominations to Registered Social Landlords are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures where applicable.
Role: Housing Officer
Location: Newport City Council
Pay Rate: 18 per hour
Responsibilities:
1 Frontline Service Provision
-To administer the Common Housing Register within the provisions of the Common Allocation Policy.
-To nominate applicants from the common housing register to Registered Social landlords
-To assist the Home Options Manager on the assessment of housing need via the Common Housing Register within requirements of policy
-Investigation of all applications for housing where there is issue over the applicants.
-Provide a comprehensive response to telephone and face to face enquiries.
-To fully inform all clients of their legal rights and of the housing options.
-To undertake visits to applicants as appropriate in order to verify applications and information provided
2 Strategy and Homelessness
-Work closely with the Home Options Manager to ensure that Common Housing Allocation policy assists in tackling and alleviating homelessness.
-Assist with the preparation of the Housing Strategy with particular reference to measurement of the City Council's housing need.
-Work with Registered Social Landlord's to ensure that nomination agreements are fully implemented.
3 Team and Performance Management
-Ensure that the allocation service is delivered to clear standards by developing arange of pre-set targets for key areas.
-To meet performance management targets and performance indicators.
-To monitor nomination agreements and processes
-To be aware of and to manage change in terms of legislation.
4 Other Duties
-To deputise for the Home Options Manager where appropriate.
-To carry out duties and responsibilities, where necessary, appropriate and practicable.
-To contribute to and adhere to the Council's financial regulations.
Qualifications and Experience.
-Educational standard to "A" level or equivalent or have at least 3 (three) years relevant experience.
-Understanding of and minimum of 2 (two) years experience of Frontline Housing work
