Heart Foundation Walking is Australia's largest FREE walking network. It is a social, fun, and easy way for people to walk and be active. With more than one in four Australian adults doing very little or no exercise at all, Heart Foundation Walking is a great way to help people increase their physical activity. Heart Foundation Walking is designed to help people enjoy regular physical activity. As well as the physical benefits, walking as part of a group can benefit your mental health too! Over the past 30 years more than 100,000 Australians have participated in a Heart Foundation Walking group, with over 90% of participants staying active after six months of joining. Walk Organisers come from all walks of life (no pun intended!), and all regions across Australia. Walk Organisers enjoy the flexibility of deciding when/where and how often they want to walk and reap the benefits of a healthier mind and body. You're also providing an invaluable opportunity for your community to join in a free, social and fun way to get healthy! Volunteering also benefits the volunteers - in a recent Heart Foundation survey (2024), 90% of Volunteer Walk Organisers said that volunteering in their role improved their general, physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and increased the amount of walking they did on a weekly basis.
