Head Teacher Teaching & Learning

Baradine Central School is a small, inclusive K 12 rural school located in the Warrumbungle Shire of north central NSW, on Kamilaroi Country. With a current enrolment of 103 students from Kindergarten through Year 12, the school proudly serves a diverse community, including approximately 52% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 3% who speak English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D). The secondary school currently has 62 students enrolled.

Remuneration

Base salary $149,059 (annual) plus leave loading and employer's contribution to superannuation. Total remuneration package valued at $168,946.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with teachers to strengthen practice through a structured program of professional development, coaching, classroom observations, and individualised feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Head Teacher Secondary Studies to provide effective leadership for the Secondary faculty.
  • Lead faculty and whole school differentiation of the curriculum, promoting engagement and learning through personalised learning and support plans, and strong literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing programs.
  • Initiate, lead and monitor the implementation of the school's whole school initiatives with a strong focus on improving outcomes for all students.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships across the school community, including Aboriginal students, families and broader stakeholders, to support inclusive practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Embed evidence informed approaches to improve teaching quality, classroom practice, and student growth.
Qualifications & Selection Criteria
  • Teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.
  • Specific Selection Criteria:
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the Executive team to effectively initiate, lead and monitor the implementation of the school's whole school initiatives, with a strong focus on improving outcomes for all students.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships across the school community, including Aboriginal students, families and broader stakeholders, to support inclusive practices and improve student outcomes.
    • Proven ability or capability to lead faculty and whole school differentiation of the curriculum, promoting engagement and learning through personalised learning and support plans, and strong literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing programs.
    • Demonstrated successful leadership in collaborating with executive team to align faculty practices with whole school strategic directions, initiating and leading professional learning that embeds evidence informed approaches to improve teaching quality, classroom practice, and student growth.
  • General Selection Criteria:
    • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
    • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
    • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
    • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
    • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
    • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
