Position InformationAlbury High School is a comprehensive high school with approximately 900 students, including 70 Indigenous students and 21 students in three Multicategorical classes. The school supports a diverse student body, offering strong programs for students with learning difficulties as well as those excelling academically, in sports, and the arts. The school encourages goal-setting and skill development for all students.
Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs are integrated within three school faculties, and students have access to additional courses through Albury TAFE. The active learning support team focuses on creating a safe and supportive environment that fosters achievement.
Students consistently perform well in external exams and receive nominations for NESA showcase exhibitions. Albury High School maintains strong partnerships with local educational institutions such as TAFE, Charles Sturt University, La Trobe University, and other government schools.
Parental and community involvement is encouraged through the Parents and Citizens Association, which plays an important role in the school's planning and development. The school honours its proud history and traditions while embracing future challenges and opportunities.
Specific Selection Criteria- Proven ability to lead and manage the Home Economics faculty, fostering a positive, collaborative, and student-centred learning environment that supports staff and student achievement.
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience in teaching Home Economics subjects, including Food Technology, Textiles, and Hospitality, with demonstrated understanding of VET frameworks and TAFE course requirements.
- Demonstrated capability in managing and coordinating VET and TAFE enrolments and partnerships, ensuring compliance with NSW Department of Education policies and delivering effective vocational pathways for students.
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate Home Economics programs that cater to diverse learners and align with NSW Department of Education policies, syllabuses, and accreditation requirements.
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
