Job DescriptionThe Head of Catering & Events plays a critical leadership role in designing, planning, and executing successful catering services and events for a diverse clientele. This role demands a visionary leader who can collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and staff, to deliver exceptional culinary and event experiences that exceed expectations. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, an innovative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects and teams effectively. In addition, the Head of Catering & Events is responsible for profitability, maintaining budgetary constraints while delivering high-quality services. This individual must exhibit outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to foster strong relationships with clients and ensure their needs are met and surpassed.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee the entire catering and events department with strategic direction.
- Develop innovative catering and event solutions tailored to client needs and expectations.
- Collaborate with chefs and culinary teams to design diverse, high-quality menus.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards across all catering services.
- Maintain strong client relationships by addressing feedback and improving service delivery.
- Manage the planning and execution of events from conception to completion.
- Develop and monitor budgets to ensure financial targets are met and exceeded.
- Negotiate with vendors to obtain the best services and prices for events.
- Hire, train, and mentor staff to maintain a high-performance team environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to align goals and optimize workflow processes.
- Analyze market trends to identify new business opportunities and improve offerings.
- Implement systems and procedures to elevate operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Planning, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in catering and event management.
- Proven leadership skills in managing large, diverse teams effectively.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Strong negotiation skills for vendor management and contract negotiations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interactions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when required.
