Export Finance Australia (EFA) is Australia's export credit agency.

The GM Institutional Domestic is a senior role responsible for leading, originating, structuring, negotiating, and executing a pipeline of debt financing transactions. These transactions, covering critical minerals and mining, defence, manufacturing, infrastructure, transport, digital economy and agriculture, will benefit Australia and unlock export-related opportunities.

This role will be an ambassador for EFA and play a key role in increasing the market's understanding of EFA and the financing solutions it can provide. The GM Institutional Domestic will also work closely with the GM Strategic Transactions and Operations to evaluate and progress potential domestic NIA (National Interest Account) transactions.

Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

  • Support the CIO and Leadership in creating and executing strategies for the Institutional Domestic business aligned with EFA's mandate, customer needs and risk appetite.
  • Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities in key sectors (critical minerals, mining, defence) and strengthen customer relationships to drive transaction origination.
  • Lead the origination, structuring, negotiation and execution of Institutional Domestic transactions ensuring alignment with EFA's strategic and policy objectives.
  • Partner with CIO, Strategic Transactions and Government Relatins teams to support initiatives like the Critical Minerals strategy, Defence Exports and NIA transactions.
  • Oversee transaction structuring, due diligence, credit risk and compliance with EFA's policies, mandate and international obligations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, insurers, Export Credit Agencies, advisors, industry bodies and government departments (DFAT, Austrade, Defence etc:)
  • Develop and execute the Institutional Domestic strategic plan, identify emerging opportunities and adapt products to market needs and ESG expectations.
  • Drive cooperation between Institutional, Business Financing and International teams to enhance portfolio development and client outcomes.
  • Lead with strong people practices, align teams to corporate priorities, coach and develop staff, and foster engagement and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to EFA's risk management framework, policies, and E&S standards continuously improving governance and risk processes.

ABOUT YOU

  • The successful candidate will have extensive leadership experience in institutional banking in project and structured finance ideally with sector experience in critical minerals and/or mining.
  • You will have strong expertise in credit analysis, loan structuring, negotiations and operational risk management.
  • You will have proven ability to lead large and complex transactions in key sectors such as critical minerals and mining.
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience in motivating and managing teams, direct reports and senior team members, specialists and cross-fubctional teams.
  • You will have a deep understanding of financial markets and products, including debt and equity solutions and associated risks.
  • You will have exceptional analytical, conceptual and written communication skills including experience in preparing proposals and legal documentation.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic judgement is a must with a demonstratable record of driving successful execution and organisational change.
  • You will have excellent stakeholder engagement skills including managing partnerships with multiple external financiers and multilateral partners.
  • The successful candidate must have high integrity and client focus with the ability to balance commercial outcomes and government expectations.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject.
