Management Accountant/Finance Manager Kilmarnock Negotiable DOE

My client a leader in the Mechanical and Electrical engineering sector have an exciting opportunity for Management Accountant to join their expanding operations on a permanent basis.

Requirements:
Working with the commercial team the Role holder is responsible for the integrity of financial control within the business and compliance with Policies and Procedures. Essentially, the Role holder will audit and improve administrative activities within the business areas to ensure they are efficient, effective, controlled, and deliver value to the organisation. This is achieved through challenging financial transactions / controls and reconciling key financial information to identify, challenge and address financial risk.

The Role holder is responsible for the key financial processes that run through the business including sales ledger and purchase ledger. The Role holder will undertake management of information ensuring that it is accurate, timely and reliable to the Commercial Director, Finance and Operations Teams.
The Role holder will work closely with the Commercial Director to identify process improvements that can be made to facilitate and support the needs of the business without compromising financial control.

Controls and Compliance:
Ensure that internal controls for all accounting processes are fit for purpose in line with the business requirement and controls are operating as designed.
Control the timely preparation of lead schedules and balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner, including the main accruals and prepayments schedule, highlighting risks and opportunities to the Commercial Director.
Engage with the business External Accountants to ensure efficient close out of annual account activities.
Support the team with various external ad hoc reports such as VAT, corporation tax, CIS reporting, R&D Tax Credit & the ECITB claim.

Working Capital / Cashflow Management:
Preparation of accurate 13-week cash forecast to be submitted to the Commercial Director on a weekly basis.
Continually monitor the cash position of the business highlighting any potential risks.
Support working capital improvements by business partnering within operations and challenging the business on cash generation.

Purchase Ledge Control:
Ensure vendor master data changes are controlled and verified for fraud risks.
Monthly review of purchase ledger accounts to identify and resolve issues, for example payments on account, unrecovered credits, old payable balances.
Review payment runs to ensure vendors are paid to term and transactions are appropriately approved.
Ensure that supplier statement reconciliations are performed at least quarterly or more frequently where issues are identified.

Financial Reporting:
Ensure intercompany matching is fully reconciled at reporting dates and any discrepancies are resolved on a timely basis. Submit intercompany transactions to be settled during the month.
Review several overhead cost accounts within the business, investigating and challenging any variances to prior year / forecast / budget to understand and resolve any issues.
Take lead in the weekly/monthly payroll review and processing.
Be an integral part of the month-end reporting processes to ensure that accurate information is prepared for upload into the Group reporting tools.
Support with the submission of financial data into the Group reporting tools.
Support the annual Financial Statement process as required.
