Lead Surgery Registered Veterinary Technician (or VTS)

Hourly Pay Rate: $26.00-$42.00 (based on experience and skill level)

Your Role as a Lead Surgery Registered Veterinary Technician (or VTS)

As the Lead Surgery Technician, you'll be at the heart of our surgical services by guiding your team, ensuring clinical excellence, and supporting our surgeon through complex soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. This leadership role is ideal for a confident, organized RVT or VTS who thrives in high-stakes environments and takes pride in mentorship and surgical nursing.

You'll use your expertise to:
  • Lead and support a high-functioning surgical team through preparation, anesthesia, and recovery
  • Manage surgical schedules, inventory, and aseptic protocols
  • Provide training, mentorship, and feedback to help other techs grow
  • Monitor patients under advanced anesthetic protocols, including ventilator support
Requirements
  • Required: Current RVT License and Registration with DORA.
  • Preferred: College (AS/BS/BA).
  • Preferred: Minimum of 5 years' experience as an RVT, preferably in a specialty.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 3 years' experience in Surgery or Anesthesia.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a leadership role
  • Preferred: BLS/ALS CPR certifications.

Schedule

Typical schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts (On call shifts required)

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • This role is physically active and fast-paced. You'll need to:
  • Lift up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, and be on your feet for long periods
  • Operate medical and office equipment
  • Work around biological hazards and cleaning agents
  • Communicate clearly in noisy environments
