Board Certified Emergency Medicine physicians to provide emergency medicine care at a comprehensive Indian Health Service facilities in the Southwest. This facility is in Polacca AZ in a rural, tribal community in Northeastern Arizona. The facility has about 13,500 annual patient visits and offers 24 hours of physician coverage.
Requirements
- ABEM certified
- ATLS, ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Active, unrestricted license and DEA from ANY state or US territory
- Not had a lapse in practice > 6 months leading up to assignment
- Annual Covid and Flu vaccination or exemption
About the location
- Approximately 13500 annual patient visits - 7000 from Hopi and Navajo tribes
- Strong Navajo and Hopi cultural traditions exist within the communities, offering an opportunity to learn the Navajo and Hopi languages, or to learn about traditional Native American medicine.
- The service units are located near the Grand Canyon National Park, with excellent opportunities for photography and outdoor recreation.
- Nearest airports: Flagstaff Pullam Regional (2 hour drive), Albuquerque International Airport (4 hour drive)
Practice Description
Typical number of patients per day: 20-30/day,10-20/night- EMR: RPMS
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7a-7p/7p-7a
- Solo coverage - no APP back up
- 7 bed ED
- Imaging: Sonosite in ED, imaging read off-site, CT, MRI and Ultrasound available limited hours
- Trauma patients: Major trauma, acute surgical emergencies and high-risk obstetric patients are transported to Flagstaff Medical Center
