Commencing Term 1, 2026 Melbourne Girls Grammar is a leading independent girls' school with a proud history since 1893. We empower students from Early Learning to Year 12 to grow with confidence, courage, and independence.

Our Early Learning Centre (ELC) provides an inspiring and nurturing environment for our youngest Grammarians. Influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our programs celebrate curiosity, creativity, and the joy of discovery, setting the foundation for lifelong learning.

About this Role:

We are seeking to appoint a Director of Early Learning to lead and enrich our Early Learning Centre, located at 63 Clowes Street, South Yarra. This full-time position will commence in Term 1, 2026.

About You:
  • Hold an approved Early Childhood bachelor's degree Teaching Qualification and current VIT registration.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an Early Learning.
  • Deep understanding of the VEYLDF and Reggio Emilia-inspired practice.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage compliance, and ensure best-practice education and care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, children, and families.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and committed to upholding child safety and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Early Learning Centre, ensuring alignment with the School's mission, vision, and educational philosophy.
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the ELC, including staffing, compliance, policy management and curriculum delivery.
  • Ensure child safety policies and practices are embedded in all aspects of the Centre's operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and support ELC educators to foster collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Partner with families and the school community to build strong relationships that enhance each child's learning journey.
  • Promote the philosophy and values of Melbourne Girls Grammar through community engagement and events.
Applicants are asked to address the following key selection criteria in their application:
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational leadership in an early childhood setting, including leading teams to deliver high-quality programs aligned with VEYLDF and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven capacity to lead curriculum and pedagogy using evidence-based approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain strong relationships with children, families, staff, and the wider community.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of early childhood legislation, regulatory frameworks (including ACECQA and NQF) and the Child Safety Standards.
  • Proficiency in digital and administrative systems (e.g., KIMS, Arrivals, Synergetic, School Box).

Teacher of Drama

Key responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver innovative and inclusive Drama programs aligned with the Victorian Curriculum
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student expression and confidence.
  • Support the delivery of the co-curricular program including the School Productions
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary arts learning.
  • Use digital tools and creative technologies to support and extend student learning
  • Uphold MGGS's commitment to child safety in all aspects of teaching and school life
About you:
  • Hold current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration or can gain VIT registration. Graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Deep understanding of curriculum requirements and best practice teaching strategies
  • Skilled at building meaningful, respectful relationships with students and colleagues
