What you will doas the Director - NetwrorkPricingDirectors lead and manageteams conducting analytical activities that contribute toAER's purpose to make all energy consumers better off. Thiswork may focus on specific aspects of the role of the AER, forexample the prices consumers pay for their electricity andgas.
Directors report to aGeneral Manager and operate with a high level of autonomy. Theywill perform the following duties:
- Lead and manageteams conducting analytical activities including identifyingand allocating tasks to team members, providing performancefeedback, and ensuring their ongoing development
- Oversee and guideanalytical assessment activities to support the work of theAER
- Identify and analyseemerging issues in the energy sector and networkregulation
- Design andfacilitate processes for consultation with stakeholders, andassess submissions from stakeholders on energy sectormatters
- Prepare and overseethe preparation of high-quality written material, for example:issues papers, correspondence, briefings, guidelines, reportsand advice on energy market and network regulationissues
- Plan and managemultiple projects in a fast paced and geographically dispersedwork environment, with competing priorities, and provide teammembers with clear direction and support to ensure timelydelivery
- Represent the AER;initiate and manage stakeholder relationships with industrybodies, Government agencies (Commonwealth and State), consumergroups, and internal stakeholders
- Manage thecollection, use and storage of information associated with theAER's regulatory responsibilities in the energy sectorand identify and lead initiatives to improve AER workflows andprocesses.
All candidates areexpected to meet the APS Integrated Leadership Profile (ILS) for the classificationadvertised. Follow the link for more information on the ILS. Thisrole in particular requires:
- Demonstratedexperience leading a team or similar role in a fast-paced andlarge complex people-centred organisation
- A well-developedunderstanding of, or ability to quickly acquire anunderstanding of, the Australian energy sector and the role,purpose and objectives of the AER
- Strong written andverbal communication skills, with the ability to influence,persuade and negotiate effectively
- Experience insuccessfully and autonomously planning, managing and deliveringprojects in a timely manner
- external partnersand stakeholders
- Ability to exercisejudgement and make reasonable decisions on complex issuesreflecting strong analytical abilities
- Tertiaryqualifications in economics, corporate finance, law, publicpolicy, engineering, data science or related fields with atleast 5 years post-qualifications experience involving managingand leading teams.
