Position InformationHolsworthy High School is in the Liverpool area of South West Sydney and has over 700 students. The school has a diverse multicultural community, including 41 Aboriginal students. Holsworthy High School also has students from Defence Force families who are well-supported by a Defence School Mentor (DSM). A Special Education unit caters for students with a mild intellectual disability (IM) and autism (AU). There is a very well-established and effective Community of Schools group with high quality joint programmes. There is a firm commitment from the leadership of all four schools to develop and extend this partnership.
Specific Selection Criteria- Strong communication, organisational and management capabilities, including demonstrated capacity to lead and oversee the complex day to day operations of the school.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, and manage student wellbeing and behaviour programmes that enhance attendance, engagement and a positive school culture.
- A highly visible and approachable instructional leader with proven ability to build authentic relationships across the school community which help to promote a culture of high expectations and collaborative practice.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a diverse executive team to effectively initiate, lead and monitor the implementation of the schools' strategic directions and whole school programmes.
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programmes.
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
