OverviewA Customer Solutions Order Engineer provides technical expertise to the sales team and front-line CSE, understands customer needs, and transforms these needs into optimal KONE solutions. The role is part of the KONE early engagement team and ensures that KONE offerings and specifications are included in the customer's building specifications. It focuses on non-standard tendering cases and is accountable for the customer's overall solution, including integrations, solutions, services, and products. The role involves defining specifications, costs, and lead times in cooperation with other front-line parties, Supply Line, and Area and Global support functions.
Responsibilities and key activities- Collaboration with sales: find optimal technical solutions to meet the customer's needs for non-standard projects; ensure clarity on the solution's scope, including KONE and possible third-party offerings; select the correct product platform for the offering; propose solutions from all KONE business lines (new services, escalators, elevators, doors, etc.).
- Solution planning - Costing: ensure correct APF solution costs; involve CSE Engineer and systems to understand costs for integrations; coordinate with Supply Line, installation, and project management to understand materials and costs.
- Solution planning - Specs: coordinate specification creation; perform initial and revised non-standard energy calculations; perform traffic analyses; be accountable for technical feasibility checks.
- Solution planning - Availability and lead times: coordinate solution lead times from Supply Line and local sourcing.
- Solution planning - Installability: ensure the proposed solution can be installed; ensure cost and work effort impact of installation is included in costing, especially in non-standard installation cases.
- Solution planning - Maintainability: ensure the proposed solution fulfills the customer's product lifecycle needs; identify deviations from standard maintenance methods and drive resolutions.
- Solution planning - Compliance: ensure the proposed solution fulfills local codes, regulations and safety requirements; ensure alignment with environmental regulations and with KONE engineering policy.
- Key tasks in the KONE Delivery process: create full shop drawings or installation layouts; coordinate corporate material order engineering; analyze change requirements (variation orders and add works) and provide holistic proposals for new solution design; coordinate work of all involved CSE Engineers and Specialists; propose change order opportunities to Project Managers; understand variance between site design and site reality; provide solution-related information to Project Managers, Installation Supervisors and Maintenance Supervisors; perform technical submittal documentation; manage material sample ordering; handle SAP Milestone management; identify RFIs; coordinate with Sourcing for third-party supplier ordering and samples; may participate in customer meetings if technical topics need discussion.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another relevant field, or several years' experience in elevator business field operations
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience in elevator business field operations
- Excellent skills in understanding and translating customer needs into KONE technical specifications
- Understanding of new construction and building modernization processes in the industry and at KONE
