Title and SummaryCounsel - Consumer Products
OverviewMastercard is seeking an attorney to be responsible for providing comprehensive, end-to-end, strategic legal counsel and support to the Consumer Products and Processing, supporting holistically the regional and global growth of Consumer Products and Processing, especially (but not only) in areas of issuer-processing and pre paid management services.
RoleThe ideal candidate is a curious, well organized, highly motivated, technology and payments minded attorney with proper experience. This role is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and reports to the Senior Counsel, Global Processing.
- Collaborate with the business to bring to market and scale Mastercard's consumer products.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with Mastercard customers and partners (e.g. acquirers, issuers and other partners), merchants, payment service providers and other stakeholders within the payments ecosystem, especially in the area of issuer processing and pre paid management.
- Provide legal advice to the business on a wide range of product development, commercial and contractual matters.
- Work cross functionally with various product and legal teams, including data privacy, intellectual property, anti trust, regulatory affairs, public policy, franchise and services business lines and functions to provide holistic support to Mastercard's global and regional products strategy.
- Work with internal and external regulatory counsel and regional colleagues to ensure compliance with laws, government regulations relating to Mastercard's consumer products.
- Advise business teams on new legal or regulatory trends and risks that may impact Mastercard's consumer products strategy and the overall business.
- Implement improvements and efficiencies in the product development process.
- Develop strong relationships with product, business and sales teams, and senior management in the region.
- Assist with the creation of project plans, trackers, training materials and guides, and provide training for business clients and law department colleagues.
- Support other projects within the broader Core Payments legal team.
- Qualified lawyer with a solid academical background.
- Experience working on complex legal projects at a reputable law firm and as an in house counsel.
- Experience in payment ecosystem, with focus technology is preferred.
- Global mindset and in house experience, particularly in a multi national company is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to interact confidently and effectively with demanding stakeholders.
- Fast learner who can gain familiarity with complex and evolving products and solutions and deal with legal and regulatory challenges.
- Able to work flexibly, under pressure, and with tight deadlines.
- Must be willing to take on a variety of responsibilities and roles that support the team, department and the company.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively, and multi task effectively in a fast paced team environment.
