Community Pool Attendants

The District Council of Streaky Bay is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Swimming Pool Attendant(s). In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of pool patrons through active supervision and care. Key duties include asssisting with pool maintennance, monitoring water quality, and contributing to a safe, compliant environment by following Council's Risk Management Policies and Procedures. This position also requires a strong commitment to upholding the Council's Core Values, as outlined in our Community Strategic Plan, to foster a welcoming and responsible community space.

Swimming Pool Attendant

In the capacity of 'Pool Attendant', contribute to the supervision of patrons of the Streaky Bay Swimming Pool to ensure the safety of each person. Direct pool supervision includes:

o Identifying and providing advice to swimmers in the adoption of safe swimming practices

o Identifying special needs patrons and providing appropriate manual handling or care techniques

o Encouraging responsible behaviour such as the observance of signs and respect for the needs of other patrons

Providing specific supervision in the use of inflatable play equipment

Assist with controlling a range of inappropriate and/or unsafe behaviours or acts of users of the pool and its surrounds.

Respond to emergencies as required, providing first aid or initiating other necessary action in the event of injury or illness.

Pool Maintenance

Operate water chlorinator/filtration unit and maintain pool water.

Monitor water quality throughout pool opening times. Take daily pH, chlorine readings, water temperature, dates/times of filter backwash and record the results in a logbook.

Adjust water quality requirements, in accordance with readings.

Undertake minor maintenance to pool bowl, vacuum pool and remove "scum lines" as required.
