Role Overview

We are looking for a Community Outreach Manager to shape and grow the UpStar Community, online and offline, and build a hub for discussions, insights, and learning around cloud and cybersecurity careers across SEA (with reach into MENA).

This is a 3-month remote contract role (extendable). You will work closely with Product and Growth to design and execute community strategies that bring UpStar's mission to life, sparking conversations around career acceleration, skills intelligence, and guided learning journeys.

Key Responsibilities Community Building and Engagement
  • Build and nurture UpStar's online community across LinkedIn, Discord, Reddit, and other relevant channels.
  • Initiate and moderate discussions focused on early-career cloud and cybersecurity growth.
  • Run community programs such as Q&A threads, AMAs, polls, learning challenges, and content series.
  • Identify trending topics, certifications, role pathways, and hiring signals relevant to early-career talent across SEA and MENA.
  • Identify and engage partners such as universities, training providers, student groups, and professional communities.
  • Conduct outreach and partner meetings (online and in person where applicable) to explore collaboration opportunities.
  • Maintain partner communication cadence, share materials, and support long-term collaboration.
Content and Campaign Execution
  • Create and coordinate community content and outreach assets, blogs, short posts, infographics, simple decks, and community announcements, in collaboration with Product and Growth.
  • Translate UpStar's value into clear community-led campaigns that drive participation and trust.
Insights and Reporting
  • Collect community insights and feedback, share learnings with the internal team, and propose improvements to engagement and product experience.
  • Track engagement metrics (growth, activity, retention, partner pipeline) and iterate on what works.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field, equivalent experience is also welcome.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Arabic or Bahasa is a plus.
  • Comfortable with outreach, follow-ups, and presenting to partners.
  • Interest in career development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, or early-career talent ecosystems.
  • Understanding of how online communities grow and sustain engagement.
  • Familiarity with community and productivity tools like LinkedIn, Discord, Slack, Notion, Hootsuite, or similar.
  • Organized, creative, proactive, and able to execute independently in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • Built a visible pipeline of university and ecosystem partners for ongoing collaboration.
