The company Our client is a leading asset management firm specialising in retail, with a strong focus on community impact and food security. Operating a multi-site network across the state, the company is at an exciting stage of growth and is seeking a strategic CFO to join their executive team. This is more than a finance role; it's an opportunity to contribute to a values-driven organisation where commercial success is deeply connected to social purpose. The position is fully remote and part-time, offering flexibility while allowing you to make a meaningful impact in communities that need it most.
The RoleThe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in shaping the company's financial strategy, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of the business. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will lead financial operations and provide strategic guidance across the executive team. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially experienced finance professional with deep expertise in retail, particularly multi-site environments.
Key responsibilities- Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning across a multi-site retail network
- Oversee financial reporting, compliance, audit processes, and payroll obligations to ensure accuracy and regulatory alignment
- Deliver a balanced focus on management accounting (75%) and strategic financial guidance (25%)
- Participate in board meetings and contribute to executive-level decision-making
- Collaborate with merchandising, operations, and cross-functional teams to optimise inventory, profitability, and commercial outcomes
- Maintain and enhance MYOB-based financial systems while managing a team of 3 contract bookkeepers
- Support capital planning, fit-outs, acquisitions, and liaise with external advisors on tax and audit matters
You're not just a finance leader, you're someone who wants their work to matter. You thrive in purpose-led environments, where financial performance supports broader social outcomes. With deep experience in retail or supermarket accounting, you understand the commercial realities of multi-site operations and bring clarity to complex financial data. You empower strategic decision-making and value lean, effective operations that drive real-world impact.
- CPA or CA qualification with proven experience in retail or supermarket accounting
- Expertise in management accounting, budgeting, and strategic financial planning
- Proficiency in MYOB and comfort working with contractors and external advisors
- A hands-on approach and strong communication skills, especially with non-financial stakeholders
