Location: Sydney, Perth, Darwin or Melbourne

The Cashflow & Equipment Finance team support Indigenous businesses to develop their capabilities and take full advantage of their revenue generating opportunities.

The Cashflow & Equipment Finance team helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to finance the growth of commercially viable businesses by providing working capital solutions including Invoice Finance, Performance Bonds and Equipment Finance products. The team also manage a portfolio of rental properties involving tenants that deliver valuable services for the benefit of Indigenous communities.

About the Role

The objective of this role is to generate new invoice finance, producer offset loan, performance bond and equipment finance opportunities within IBAs risk framework in order to support the realisation of the team's sales targets and KPIs. The Business Development Officer achieves this through identification of, and direct marketing/sales to, eligible Indigenous enterprises.

Duties
  • Implementing a direct sales marketing strategy that supports the generation of strong customer prospects and pipelines.
  • Identifying and actively participating in promotional events and activities to raise IBA's profile both internally and externally.
  • Developing productive relationships with Indigenous focused organisations (other than brokers) to support opportunities for connections with our target audience.
  • Engaging with warm prospects, qualifying their eligibility and converting them into customers.
  • Compliance with PPSA, Privacy, AML and Fair-Trading Legislation and requirements.
  • Collaborating in the new business process to support pipeline conversion and realization of sales targets, and KPIs.
  • Managing communications with ineligible customers including exploring alternate options for finance.
  • Other duties as required.
Required capabilities
  • A collaborative work style and the ability to engage with a small team to achieve results.
  • Knowledge of legislation and structures including PPSA, Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering, Fair-Trading and Trusts.
  • Experience in running direct sales
  • Extensive knowledge of factoring, invoice discounting, performance bonds and equipment finance.
  • Possess sound skills in conducting analysis of financial
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate constructive solutions with customers and manage expectations.
  • Ensuring that all new business generation functions are performed in a timely, accurate manner, is of a high standard, and meets customer expectations as well as legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Commitment to high quality customer service and demonstrated ability to build beneficial working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and customers
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability
  • Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture, particularly as they related to business.
  • Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers and staff, including displaying integrity and transparency.
