Responsibilities- Strategy: Explore / develop new markets; embed Saadiq across Corporate & Investment Banking ("CIB") businesses in the Assigned Region; maintain market intelligence on different markets where Islamic products are offered and track competitor moves.
- Business: Support in delivering assigned Islamic Origination business (Corporate Finance & Financial Markets) budget in the Assigned Region/geographies; build strong working relationships with CIB Clients' teams and key Product Teams (CM, Syndications, Infrastructure & Dev Finance, Financing Solutions, DAF, Financial Markets, Leverage Finance) across Assigned Region to jointly market/pitch, originate, structure, and distribute Islamic structured deals; prepare pitchbooks, market updates and other marketing materials; manage end-to-end deal execution including deal structuring, term sheets, negotiating terms with the client for Sharia compliance, securing mandates, and coordinating with external/internal counsel to develop facility documentation; seek guidance/ approvals from Shariah advisors to ensure transactions align with Shariah requirements; develop relationships with key Islamic investors (Banks/FIs) to syndicate and distribute transactions; coordinate with Operations and Processing teams for execution and post-execution follow-ups and trainings; coordinate with Product Development to launch PPGs and Country Addendums; liaise with external industry publications for marketing strategies, award write-ups and case studies.
- Processes: Build relationships with business partners and support departments to manage operational processes.
- People & Talent: Lead through example, build the appropriate culture and values; work in a multi-disciplinary team; participate in ongoing training and development of staff; ensure holders of critical functions are skilled and supervised to mitigate risks.
- Risk Management: Ensure a full understanding of the risk and control environment in the area of responsibility.
- Governance: Deliver effective governance; capability to challenge fellow executives; cooperate with local regulators; zero tolerance on Shariah appropriateness and sustainability issues.
- Regulatory & Business Conduct: Display exemplary conduct; embed ethics and compliance; identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters; lead the Islamic Origination business in the Assigned Region to meet Conduct Principles.
- Key stakeholders: Work with local stakeholders, Global Banking and Markets teams in CIB and products, Operations, L&C, Risk to ensure compliance with local regulatory & internal requirements.
- Other Responsibilities: Embed Standard Chartered Group values in Islamic Origination, Dubai, UAE; perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- Educational: Postgraduate qualification preferable in Finance and Banking.
- Experience: Experience in either the sell side of Investment Banking, or the buy side of Investment Banking, or financial consultancy & accounting.
- Languages: English required; other languages preferable.
