The VCAA (Victorian Curriculum & Assessment Authority) is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the VCE Examination Unit for a fixed term position.
- Salary: $162,077 to $185,518 (Plus 12% Superannuation)
- Fixed term till 31/08/2026
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions may be available)
- Usual work location: East Melbourne
The Assistant Director, VCE Examinations, supports the Director, VCE Examinations and plays a critical leadership role in the delivery of high-quality VCE examinations in line with VCAA's strategic and operational goals. The role contributes to operational oversight, strategic improvement initiatives, and cross-unit collaboration to strengthen examination and assessment practices. The Assistant Director helps to ensure that examination development is consistent, timely and aligned with curriculum requirements and the broader objectives of the VCAA Strategic Plan.
The role contributes to the development and monitoring of examination processes, procedures and planning frameworks, ensuring alignment with best practice and informed by research and policy across local, national and international contexts. The role manages complex risk and issues involving our stakeholders and communication to enhance efficiencies and developments through quality, assurance and improvements.

Tertiary degree in a relevant education or project management field and/or experience in public policy and system improvement.
Desirable: Experience in managing complex projects in the education field.
