POWERTECH is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of combustion engines, expendable turbojet engines, and turbofan engines for a wide range of aerospace, defence, and autonomous applications, including fixed and rotary wing UAVs and other advanced platforms.

Job Summary

The Senior Engineer - Advanced Engine Architectures will be responsible for leading and executing the design, development, and optimization of advanced propulsion systems with a focus on innovative, game changing engine architectures. This senior role requires an expert in propulsion technologies who can take ownership of complex engineering projects, guide a team of engineers, and work closely with R&D teams to develop new propulsion solutions that push the boundaries of performance, sustainability, and efficiency in aerospace and defense.

Key Responsibilities Engine Design and Development
  • Lead the design and optimization of next generation propulsion systems, with a focus on disruptive technologies, such as hybrid propulsion, electric engines, and alternative fuel systems.
  • Provide technical leadership in the development of innovative engine architectures, ensuring their integration into aerospace and defense platforms.
  • Drive the refinement and improvement of existing propulsion systems to meet evolving performance and fuel efficiency.
Technical Leadership and Mentorship
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior and mid level engineers, providing technical guidance and ensuring the team meets milestones in design and development.
  • Conduct peer reviews of designs, simulations, and testing protocols to ensure the highest engineering standards are maintained.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
Advanced Research and Innovation
  • Take ownership of advanced research in emerging propulsion technologies, including thermodynamic cycles, new materials, energy storage systems, and AI driven optimization techniques.
  • Stay at the forefront of propulsion engineering by exploring and integrating cutting edge technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the industry.
  • Collaborate with external research organizations and industry experts to gain insights into new developments and incorporate those into the company's innovation pipeline.
Simulation and Analysis
  • Lead complex simulations and modeling of propulsion systems, using tools such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD), multi physics simulations, and thermodynamic analysis.
  • Analyze system performance under various operational conditions, providing data driven insights for design improvements.
  • Validate design assumptions and ensure that performance and efficiency targets are met or exceeded.
Testing and Prototyping
  • Oversee the development and execution of testing protocols for prototype engines and new engine architectures, ensuring real world performance aligns with design expectations.
  • Lead troubleshooting and optimization efforts during testing phases, identifying and resolving technical issues that arise during prototype development.
  • Work closely with the testing team to develop test plans, analyze results, and refine propulsion system designs.
Cross Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with cross functional teams, including materials science, manufacturing, and systems integration, to ensure seamless design to production transitions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to track project milestones, timelines, and budgets, ensuring efficient and timely project execution.
  • Communicate with senior leadership to report on progress, risks, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including reports, design specifications, and performance analysis.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical papers, patents, and presentations for external conferences, client meetings, and industry events.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a focus on propulsion, thermodynamics, or fluid dynamics. At least 8 12 years of experience in propulsion systems engineering, with a proven track record in designing, developing, and optimizing propulsion technologies, including engine architectures.
  • Strong experience with advanced propulsion systems such as hybrid, electric, and alternative propulsion technologies is highly desirable. Hands on experience in using simulation and design tools (e.g., CFD, CAD, FEA, and multi physics modeling tools) to develop and optimize engine systems.
  • Prior experience in leading R&D or technology development projects, and mentoring junior engineers, is a significant advantage.
Skills
  • Deep understanding of propulsion system dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and aerodynamics.
  • Expertise in advanced engine architectures, combustion systems, and thermal management technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in simulation and modeling software for propulsion system design and optimization.
  • Ability to lead projects through the full lifecycle, from conceptual design to testing, optimization, and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders, and to present technical information clearly.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of cutting edge propulsion technologies, including electric propulsion, hybrid engines, and AI driven performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with new propulsion materials and manufacturing techniques (e.g., additive manufacturing, high temperature composites, and superconducting materials).
  • Previous experience in aerospace, defense, or similar high tech industries with complex propulsion systems.
