Join a dynamic and growing construction company in Columbus, OH as an Accounting Assistant. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with a strong background in clerical accounting and a passion for the construction industry. You'll play a key role in supporting the accounting department with day-to-day financial operations and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and timely

  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures

  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation

  • Generate reports using accounting software and Excel

  • Support payroll processing and job cost tracking

  • Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams regarding billing and payment inquiries

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of clerical accounting experience

  • At least 3+ years of hands-on experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel

  • Construction industry experience is required

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with job costing and project accounting preferred but not required

  • Familiarity with construction-specific accounting platforms (e.g., Sage 300, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, etc )
